Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person to use the Internet and they won’t bother you for weeks.

Most of us are struggling to understand the significance of social media and how best to use it for our own purposes. Blogging I understand; I enjoy writing blogs and reading well written interesting blogs. For me, the jury is still out on Twitter and Facebook. I use Facebook to basically stalk my kids and see what they are up to. Facebook just feels too invasive for me to trust. I get Twitter but I’m not into small talk and prefer to use my time in other ways. The bottom line is I’m probably too introverted to take full advantage of what social media has to offer. If you really want to understand the history, power and significance of social media, then Clay Shirky is your man. He is absolutely brilliant. I’ve provided a link to one of his TED talks and recommend that you check him out.

The social part comes easy for me; it’s all the other stuff that I don’t do and wonder if I should be trying to do more, or what’s the point? Too many questions…….
I hope your trip is going well.

Hi Bill,
I’m finally getting a handle on what works for me with social media. Not necessarily more success as traditionally measured and defined but more enjoyment. The trip is going well. Unexpected pleasant surprises all along the way.

Hi Riley,
Nice post. I’m about like you. I don’t like Facebook because of the recurrent privacy scandals, and so I was not surprised by the current stock market scandal. So although I’ve been asked, I know I will never do Facebook. The Poles say that a fish rots from the head downward; I think Facebook is bad at the top.
I think in time Twitter will settle out into being just for a certain type of people, such that novelists and matchmakers will see “uses Twitter” as a descriptor. But I just don’t know.
Perhaps some people are not disposed to get a sense of power from blogs, but can do so from tweets.
–Neat! I have had Clay bookmarked for years! From him I get knowledge-power. It’s been a while, I will have to look him up again.

Sean,
Discovered Clay via Ted Talks and Ted Talks are usually listened to while exercising. Twitter from a social media perspective just isn’t my style but as a real time information feed I could see it being a valuable source for short term investing – possibly day trading.

One thing I’d like to comment on is that weight loss program fast can be carried out by the suitable diet and exercise. Someone’s size not simply affects the look, but also the complete quality of life. Self-esteem, major depression, health risks, and physical skills are damaged in an increase in weight. It is possible to make everything right whilst still having a gain. In such a circumstance, a condition may be the perpetrator. While excessive food rather than enough exercise are usually guilty, common medical conditions and widespread prescriptions might greatly enhance size. Thanks for your post here.
